Details

"Kopi Luwak" is from the Indonesian language and breaks down as "Kopi" means Coffee and "Luwak" means a cat-like creature, namely Asian palm civet, or weasel. This animal can also be known as the "Musang". The cats that produce Civet Coffee are part of the Paradoxurus hermaphrodite’s species. So in layman's terms "Kopi Luwak" simply means "Civet Coffee" or coffee from a civet.

The civet cat eats the berries for their fleshy pulp. In its stomach, proteolytic enzymes seep into the beans, making shorter peptides and more free amino acids. Passing through a civet's intestines the beans are then defecated, keeping their shape. After gathering, thorough washing, sun drying, light roasting and brewing, these beans yield an aromatic coffee with much less bitterness, widely noted as the most expensive coffee in the world. Drinking a cup of Kopi Luwak is a very interesting experience.

Rosie and Java’s Kopi Luwak possesses a rich, distinct and captivating aroma; raisiny fruit and dark sweet chocolate hint with a citrus-toned acidity of Arabica; very silk-smooth feeling in the mouth; lengthy spicy ginger aftertaste.
